I follow a human centered design approach when designing digital products. Understanding human motivation, desires and needs can enhance technology and us.
I perform user interviews, run workshops and contextual enquiries to better understand users and their journey and why they do things. From this I produce either user journeys, personas, or user flows depending on the project and what artifacts provide most value to the client.
Based on the pain points found in user research, I can help you look for opportunities and weather a piece of technology can help. From this I create user flows, Wireframes, and clickable prototypes of possible solutions for your customers needs.
These ideas are tested by running usability testing with specific scenarios for each type of user to see how intuitive a possible solution, based on the users response designs are iterated
About Me
Gaining insights from users by performing user interviews, observing users and facilitating workshops comes naturally to me given my 5 years experience in facilitation as an IT trainer in the legal industry. By teaching people I saw first-hand users pain points and gains with technology. Much like an MVP I Iterated on my teaching approach and content based on user feedback and observing how users responded to my teaching style.
What is my character's motivation? Where were they before and after the scene I'm about to do? what's on their mind? And how will it affect their interaction? These are questions I'd have to ask as an actor when I performed in musical theatre in my spare time. Ultimately, I ask these same questions as a UX designer when I create personas. I walk through a user's journey and try to think as they would in situations before, during and after using a piece of technology.
When creating wireframes and prototypes I have a unique ability to understand how it could translate into code and how realistic a design can be. I have built intranets for large organisations by using Sharepoint and customising its front end with my skills in HTML, CSS and Javascript to do this - and yes! There were many iterations on intranet releases.
